Learning at Welton
The menu on the right hand side will take you to detailed information about all the aspects of learning that form part of the provision available to the pupils of Welton Primary School.
Curriculum
At Welton we are very proud of the engaging and exciting curriculum the children experience. Each theme is developed to facilitate the mastery of core skills as well as providing pupils with opportunities to investigate, apply knowledge, solve problems think and learn at the highest levels. All our curriculum planning is designed to meet the statutory requirements of the early years and national curriculum.
Thematic Planning
Our work to promote and support the importance of a happy and memorable childhood is a focus of the rigorous, themed curriculum which maximise outdoor learning, visits, visitors and practical activities which enable pupils to work independently, co-operatively and in a leadership role to reflect, connect learning and master new skills.
SEND
Welton Primary School prides itself in being an inclusive school. The culture and ethos of the school celebrates the diversity of the school population and we are committed to nurturing, challenging and igniting every child’s unique spark of genius.
We have a holistic approach to supporting pupils with additional needs and as well as the very good systems for supporting learning and physical needs (as described in the Welton Local Offer) we provide the following support for social and emotional aspects of learning:
Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’).
Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.
Sport and PE
The Government is providing additional funding for primary schools in order to improve the provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. In order to make the impact of this funding as sustainable as possible we have funded new equipment and a year-long programme of staff development which involves pupils and teachers being led by specialist coaches during PE lessons.
WILS
Welton’s Independent Learning Skills are a very important part of school life. We explicitly refer to these when talking about our learning and pupils are rewarded for displaying these skills.
